What is the Function of the Virginia Miller House?
The Virginia Miller House programs are each 3-5 bed, staffed, interim care facilities geared towards behavior modification of diffucult to place teen girls ages 12-17. Its founder coming from a foster care background, first as a foster child, later a foster parent have identified the huge need for the services we provide which help teens stabilize and learn productive skills. The Virginia Miller House will work with the teen on reunifying with their families or permanent foster care placements. The Virginia Miller House is a nonprofit organization with a diverse board of directors all sharing the common wish to improve the lives of young people.
Goal of the Program
The goal of The Virginia Miller House Program is to help residents (and their family, when appropriate) stabilize their behavior, begin to understand the cause of it, learn better ways of expressing their feelings, learn new, healthier behaviors, and eventually move on to a permanent home. The staff at Virginia Miller are trained to help youth and families with these issues.
The Virginia Miller House has a short-term program- 30 days to 6 months, and a long-term program- up to 18 months, depending upon the needs of the resident and the availability of a permanent placement.
